Geneious Biologics has exciting features to announce as we approach the end of the year! In this article we will cover the main highlights from the last few months:
- Protein Statistics extended to HCAb molecules
- Updated Alpaca Ig 2025 reference database
- Deleted Items folder
- New Visualization: Custom Plots for assay data etc.
- Improved NGS Antibody Annotation speed
-
More filtering options for NGS Annotations
Protein Statistics extended to HCAb molecules
We now support calculating protein properties like the isoelectric point, extinction coefficient, etc. for HCAb molecules (camelid nanobodies). This requires that your query sequences have a fully sequenced VDJ region and enough coverage of the constant region to detect a VHH constant gene.
Note: The new HCAb option is only supported for our new 2025 Reference Database (below)
The setting is available for our antibody annotation pipelines (E.g. the Antibody Annotator) and can be selected under the Analysis Options:
To learn more about the details of this option and the properties calculated, see our main article: Protein Statistics.
Updated Alpaca Ig 2025 reference database
We have released our new Alpaca Ig reference database. This now includes the full VHH constant genes (including hinge, CH2 and CH3 regions) which enable the calculation of protein properties for full HCAb antibodies.
The database is fully up-to-date with the germline genes deposited at NCBI. Please reach out to us if you would like any more information.
Deleted Items folder
When choosing to delete items in Geneious Biologics they will now be scheduled for deletion in 30 days and moved to the Deleted Items folder. Any deleted analyses or documents can be restored from this folder within a 30 day period.
To learn more see our main article Deleting Documents and Results.
New Visualization: Custom Plots
The Custom Plots graph option enables you to generate scatter plots using data values from the All Sequences Table. This is particularly useful for interrogating assay data. Either numerical vs numerical or numerical vs categorical data can be plotted against each other.
Improved NGS Antibody Annotation speed
We have refined our algorithms, leading to significantly improved annotation speed for analyses with extensive Liability Scoring options. This should have a noticeable effect on larger Annotation jobs (>4 hours long) with the Liabilities settings turned on.
More filtering options for NGS Annotations
In addition to the above improved speeds, we now have a new Filtering Section for our Annotation pipelines:
Depending on the input dataset, turning these settings on may also significantly reduce job times as poor quality and short sequences are discarded.
