Geneious Biologics allows you to manage the permissions of your folders and documents, facilitating sharing folders with other users in your organisation.
To access the Manage Sharing dialog, click on the vertical dots beside the folder name to open the folder menu and then click Manage Sharing.
Only top level folders can have their permissions modified, and these permissions will be passed on to all sub-folders and documents contained in the top level folder.
Manage Sharing Dialog
Within the Manage Sharing dialog you will be presented with a text box to search for your organisation's users and groups. You can select one or more users and groups to allow them to access the folder.
Users/Groups can have their Access Level adjusted to either:
- Read only: Users can only view the documents within the folder. No operations or modifications are possible, except for exporting files. Users can still see graphs, sequences, and sort and filter results.
- Read/write: Users can view and modify documents/folders within the folder with the exception of being able to change the permissions.
- Full access: Users have full access to be able to do anything within the folder as if they were the owner. They can change the permissions of the folder and inherit read/write permissions.
Access Levels Example
Users/Groups access level works by most permissive first.
For example below:
Alicia is being to set have only Read only access, but since she is part of the All members of Geneious group, which has Full access set, then that means she has Full access to this folder. The "All members of XXX" group is a special type of permanent group which can optionally be used, and contains all users in your organisation.
